A Break From The Normal Routine

out of the office4.jpgIn a previous post (several months ago) I listed 10 jobs that I would not be good at, but am extremely thankful for the folks who do tackle those tasks on a daily basis.

Just for fun, I thought I’d take a break from the normal posts and share a list of activities / careers that I think would be interesting to do for a short stint.

  1. Barrel race and tour the rodeo circuit.
  1. Spend a year on an Indian Reservation teaching Rodeo.jpgscience, English or both.
  1. Help on an archaeological dig.
  1. Work as a tour guide at Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon.
  1. Volunteer for a summer at Wears Valley Youth Ranch in Tennessee.
  1. Hunt alligators for a season.

  1. Work at a zoo, specifically with the elephants, giraffes, rhinos, apes, and kangaroos.

  1. Volunteer with a NOAA research team whose emphasis is to monitor and explore ways to clean up the great oceanic garbage patch.
  1. Spend several months conducting ocean fisheries research.
  1. Study the Arctic Ice Caps.
  1. Spend a summer as a saltwater marsh Eco Tourism Guide.
  1. Volunteer as a museum curator at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

  1. Study horticulture at a botanical wonderland.

  1. Spend a summer on a dude ranch participating in cattle drives and trail rides.
  1. Study Mammoth Cave.

What about you? If you could take a hiatus from your daily routine and do something completely different for a season, what would you do?

I’d love to hear your comments. Jill

  1. This is a fun post! Two of the items on your list are things I always thought would be fun to do for a while and that is working at a zoo and working on a dude ranch. Also, even though I cannot swim, I always thought it would be cool to work at someplace like Seaworld with dolphins or orcas.
